Types of Meetings...
Lead (or Speaker) Meetings - one person in recovery shares
his or her personal story - "what we used to be like, what happened, and what
we are like
now."
Discussion Meetings - usually one recovery-related topic is
introduced at the beginning of the meeting, and anyone attending the meeting can
share their experience, strength and hope with the group.
Big Book Discussion Meetings - typically, a chapter from the
"Big Book" of Alcoholics Anonymous is read and discussed by the group.
12 & 12 Discussion Meetings - A chapter is read from the
book
"Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions"- or "12 & 12" and discussed by the group.
Daily Reflections Discussion Meetings - the daily message is
read by the group from the book "Daily Reflections". Members of the group
share their comments and experience as it applies to their lives.
Open Meetings - anyone can attend an open meeting.
This is great for family members and friends of people in recovery, or for
someone that just wants to "check out A.A." for themselves.
Closed Meetings - are closed to people in recovery only.
Recovery is defined as anyone with a desire to stop drinking.
